Scholarship overview

SOAS is pleased to announce the new Centre for Palestine Studies (CPS) Master’s Scholarship which is generously funded entirely through donations. 

There is one scholarship available for 2024/25 which has been established to support a student ordinarily resident in Palestine to study any taught master’s programme at SOAS. Preference given to students ordinarily resident in Gaza and elsewhere in the Occupied Palestinian Territories as defined by FCDO (consisting of two separate land areas: the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and the Gaza Strip). 

This scholarship will cover tuition fees in full and provide a stipend of £15,340 minimum. 

Eligible programmes  

  • Any full-time (1-year) taught master’s degree programme beginning in 2024/25. 
  • Part-time and 2-year courses are not eligible. 

Candidate criteria  

  • The scholarship is open to applicants who are ordinarily resident in Palestine 
  • Priority will be given to those ordinarily resident in Gaza and elsewhere in the Occupied Palestinian Territories as defined by FCDO (consisting of two separate land areas: the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and the Gaza Strip). 
  • Applicants must hold a minimum 2:1 bachelor’s degree.
  • Students will need to meet the SOAS's standard English entry requirements.
  • Scholarship applicants must have applied to SOAS but are not required to have received an offer of admissions by the scholarship deadline. An unconditional offer will need to have been received by the time the relevant panel meets to discuss scholarship applications. 
  • Please note that this scholarship does not cover funding for pre-sessional courses. 

Candidate Assessment  

  • Candidates will be assessed based on their academic merit and personal statement by a Selection Panel. 
  • The assessment of your application will be based on the information provided in your scholarship application and in your online application for admission. Selectors will be looking at the degree results, statement and other relevant information. 

Scholarship Application Deadline 

  • Scholarship applications must be received no later than 12:00 PM (midday) UK local time on 7th June 2024.  
  • You must submit a complete application of your programme as soon as possible and then submit an application for this scholarship in order to be considered. Please note that complete applications for admissions can take up to 4 weeks to be considered by the Department, although this duration can vary depending on the time of the year. You should be prepared to wait up to 6 weeks in busy periods.  
  • You will need to have an unconditional offer for your programme by the time the Scholarship Panel meet. 
  • Late or incomplete applications will not be considered.

Notification of Results  

The scholarship shortlisting and awarding period is expected to be completed by the end of July 2024. Successful candidates will be contacted first and once all awards have been allocated, the unsuccessful candidates will be notified.
