The SOAS Middle East Institute Politics (SMEI) engages in research and policy analysis on geopolitics, international relations, and political transformations across the MENA region and its connections with the rest of the world.

Our research and expertise focus on shedding light on underexamined aspects of this complex political landscape and the competitions and connections withing it as well as the modes of operation of the myriad political actors and stakeholders in it.
