Minimum entry requirements
These entry requirements are a guide only, and do not guarantee entry. Each application will be judged on its own merits.
Undergraduate study
- Singapore-Cambridge A-levels will be considered at the same grade as UK A-levels.
- International Baccalaureate Diploma (IB) requirements are listed online for each programme. Our entry requirements specify an overall IB score and certain marks in Higher Level subjects.
- Applicants with an overall GPA of 3.3/4.0 from a Polytechnic in Singapore will be considered for year one entry.
Please refer to the undergraduate entry requirements for more information. In addition you should check the individual programme of study for any specific academic requirements.
Postgraduate study
Applicants with a second class (or equivalent) Bachelor’s degree from a good university will be considered for entry to a SOAS Master’s programme.
SOAS considers applicants from Singapore with a Cumulative Average Point of 3.3/4.0 GPA in a Bachelor's degree.
Research applicants would normally be expected to have completed a Masters qualification from a good university.
In addition to the above minimum entrance requirements, you should also refer to the individual programme entries in the postgraduate prospectus or on our postgraduate entry requirements.
English language requirement
Applicants whose first language is not English must demonstrate they meet SOAS’ English language entry requirements.
For students who do not meet the exact entry requirement SOAS offers excellent Pre-Sessional and Summer English language courses which can help to achieve the required language proficiency.

Scholarships
SOAS offers a number of scholarships and bursaries and there are other external scholarships funded by the the University of London, British Government and other organisations.
Careers
The SOAS Careers Service is part of The Careers Group, University of London, which is the biggest careers service in the country. The Careers Service provides a range of services including a careers information library, career counselling services and various events throughout the year, to help with career choice, job hunting, applications and interviews.
