Alumni benefits

SOAS is proud to offer JSTOR access to alumni, providing free access to hundreds of academic journals. Alumni will have the same access as students and staff, allowing them to view articles online and download or print out PDF files.

SOAS alumni are entitled to free reference and discounted borrowing membership of the SOAS Library, where they can enjoy one of the most extensive collections of academic works on Asia, Africa and the Middle East in the world!

Reference membership is free for alumni and borrowing membership is available at a rate of £100 per year.

We now have a new online system for alumni reference cards and alumni borrowing cards. Please apply by submitting the required information and a photo. An online payment will be required for borrowing cards. A few days after you have submitted the application form, the Library will be in touch, to let you know when your card is ready to be collected at the Library information desk.

You can still access online library resources by registering on our SOASworld website. Please make sure to opt in to receive our alumni emails.

SOAS alumni can access a range of discounts:

• 20% off postgraduate courses for all alumni and their families
• 10% off short courses at our language centre
• 25% off venue hire at SOAS

SOAS alumni have life-long access to the careers centre where they can receive one-to-one careers advice and guidance on how to write CVs and cover letters, and prepare for interviews.

SOAS Connect is a free service designed for alumni to give and get guidance on their chosen careers. You can also mentor current SOAS students.

This could include anything from exchanging a few emails or checking a CV, to arranging a Skype call or meeting face to face. With SOAS Connect alumni can also reconnect with their old university friends.

SOAS Alumni can receive our quarterly e-newsletters with the latest news from SOAS and the global alumni community, as well as invitations to exclusive events in your area.
