Biography

I am a researcher in Gender and Queer Studies, Literary and Cultural Studies and Digital Humanities. I am particularly interested in the links between Africa and Latin America and the Caribbean. This global perspective has been inherent to my education and research since taking up my studies in African Studies and Romance languages and literatures at University of Vienna, and University of Havana. I further pursued this path during my PhD research at Freie Universität Berlin, focusing on representations of sexualised violence against female-identifying persons in South African and Latin American novels from a feminist perspective. My research interests in Gender Studies have since moved from prose and poetry to music, in particular Hip Hop, and new media.
Previously to joining SOAS in 2022, I was a lecturer (praedoc) at the Institute for Latin American Studies at Freie Universität Berlin, a project coordinator at the Margherita-von-Brentano Centre at Freie Universität, and a lector in German at the University of Guadalajara (Mexico) and the University of Banja Luka.

I am also an artist, and use photography as a primary medium through which to communicate academic ideas through art.
