Biography
Dr Jonathan Acosta Smith is a Senior Fellow at the Centre for Sustainable Finance in the Department of Economics at SOAS, University of London.
He provides academic leadership in the development of the University Network for Strengthening Macrofinancial Resilience to Climate and Environmental Change, as part of the Network’s Secretariat. Jonathan’s research interests include the stability of the financial system (including credit markets, bank capital and liquidity), financial regulation, monetary policy, and sustainable finance.
He has published in leading journals and policy publications, and he has presented his research at many leading universities and policy institutions around the world.
Jonathan has extensive experience in policymaking, particularly in macroeconomic policy and financial stability. Besides his role at SOAS, he is an economist at the OECD. He previously worked at the Bank of England and European Central Bank. He received his PhD and Master’s degree from the University of Cambridge, and was awarded his Bachelor’s degree from King’s College London, University of London.
