Biography
Loreley Hahn Herrera has a BA in Communication Sciences (UNAM), an MA in Near and Middle Eastern Studies (SOAS), and a PhD in Media Studies SOAS. Her work and research interests focus on political communication, discursive practices and the use of ICTs by social movements, particularly in relation to the Palestine-Israel conflict.
Before obtaining her Ph.D., Loreley was a Graduate Teaching Assistant at the SOAS’ Centre for Global Media and Communications, as well as a Lecturer in Politics and Media at Syracuse University London. She previously worked for the public information departments of the United Nations Information Centre (UNIC) and the UN High Commissioner for Refugees in her hometown of Mexico City.
Her Ph.D. thesis looked at the online discursive practices and strategic framing implemented by the Palestine Solidarity Campaign (PSC), the largest pro-Palestinian organisation in the UK, in its attempt to increase and mobilise solidarity for the Palestinian cause in Britain during a highly contested socio-political context.
