Former Green Party leader Natalie Bennett to speak at SOAS
Green Party peer Baroness Natalie Bennett of Manor Castle and Divya Talwar, BBC Investigative Journalist and Producer, will be speaking at SOAS University of London next week about ways we can rethink, repair, and rebuild society.
The event will see Baroness Bennett discuss her new book, Change Everything, where she will speak about the world’s need for a new, greener vision that can combat the problems she perceives in today’s world.
In conversation with Divya Talwar, Baroness Bennett will examine how she sees the current social structure to be filled with greed, inequality, and a mine for political gain, as well as ways to tackle these issues.
Born and raised in Australia, Baroness Bennett joined the Green Party in 2006, and in 2012 she was selected as leader of the Green Party of England and Wales for which she was re-elected in 2014. In 2019, she was nominated for life peerage in September 2019, making her Baroness Bennett of Manor Castle.
Divya Talwar has reported for BBC Newsnight, Panorama, and Radio 4. For her Panaroma debut, Divya presented findings from her investigation into pregnancy centres where she found some women received unethical advice which could persuade women not to have abortions.
The discussion will take place on Monday 22 April, from 9:30 – 11am, and can be attended in person or online via Zoom.
This free but ticketed event has been organised by the SOAS Influencing the Corridors of Power (ICOP) project.
