SOAS Centre of Taiwan Studies 7th Annual Film Week

The SOAS Centre of Taiwan Studies is proud to host its 7th annual Film Week from the 10th to 12th of February 2020. This year we have a packed programme consisting of two classic Taiwanese language (臺語Taiyu), three Indigenous Taiwanese films and three talks. Themes include narrative and filmmaking style, social comedy, nostalgia, as well as identity and communal resilience. The schedule is listed below:

Dr Chen Pin-Chuan (Director of Cultural Division, TRO in the UK)
We are delighted to have Dr Wafa Ghermani, Professor Chen-Shou Robert Chen, Dr Corrado Neri, Prof Chris Berry and Dr Ming-Yeh Rawnsley share their insights and research on Taiwanese film, as well as answer questions from attendees. We will also welcome former Director of the Taiwan Film Institute Chen Pin-Chuan to introduce the film Pakeriran (巴克力藍的夏天), screening for the first time ever at SOAS.
All SOAS Centre of Taiwan Studies Film Week programmes are free and open to any who would like to attend.
