YCW London Mentorship Programme 2025 – Call for applications
The London chapter of the Young China Watchers (YCW) is pleased to be launching the 2025 mentorship cohort. We are calling for applications from London-based early career young professionals and students to apply for mentorship to get you to the next level in your career.
All fields are welcome – you don’t need to be studying or working within a specialist China role (although these are welcome). As long as you have an interest in China and would like to apply this to your work, we encourage you to apply.
Our mentors are drawn from different disciplines including government, finance, policy, technology, business, law and journalism. Many are leaders in their field.
Previous mentees have gone on to secure professional and academic positions in Greater China, and secure positions from the FCDO to multinational banks with support from their mentors.
We are also happy to receive indications of interest in becoming a mentor.
Who should apply?
You should
- Be studying or in the first few years of your career.
- Have demonstrable interest in China and an ambition to use this at work.
- Be based in the UK for the majority of the Programme period, ideally within travel distance of London for programme events.
- Applications that demonstrate clear career objectives, outlining how the mentorship programme will support you in achieving this, will be given preference.
How to apply?
Write to our Mentorship Directors with:
- A cover letter detailing your background and why you should be selected as a YCW mentee.
- Your CV.
Email applications to:
Deadline for application:
- Monday 23 December 2024
We look forward to receiving your applications.
What to expect?
The Programme will run for the 2025 calendar year during which time you’ll meet regularly with your mentor to receive guidance. Mentors and mentees are carefully paired based on mutual interest and background.
Throughout the Programme, mentees will have opportunities to develop new networks and attend events put on specifically for the mentorship cohort. Mentees will be expected to actively drive and contribute to the relationship with their mentor.
Beyond the mentorship itself, this is an excellent way to build your networks across London’s China watching community.
