Suraj is pursuing a PhD in International Development from SOAS, London. 

He holds an MPhil in Development Studies from the University of Oxford and graduated with a BSc in Economics from Cardiff University. His research is situated in the Political Economy of Development in South-East Asia, with his current work focused on development banking in Malaysia, with specific focus to the maritime sector and the competing role of National, Multilateral and Bilateral development financing.
