College of Law, Anthropology and Politics

Welcome
The College of Law, Anthropology and Politics at SOAS brings together a range of subjects to amplify interdisciplinary connections and foster cross-disciplinary debates within the social sciences.
Our expertise ranges across the fields of anthropology, gender studies, international relations, law, media, politics and sociology. We place great value on the intellectual dynamism underpinning our teaching and research, drawing in scholars and ideas from the Global South to broaden and deepen epistemological horizons.
The scholarly frameworks we use encompass both policy and practice. We critically interrogate nation-state and governance processes and address grassroots and community-driven projects. We consciously engage diverse analytical viewpoints and methodologies that challenge hierarchies of power and knowledge, guided by a range of principled, inclusive approaches. Our world-class research covers topics from democracy and inequality to migration and sustainability, making SOAS an ideal academic environment for engaging with pressing issues.
