About

The RAMP University Network for Strengthening Macrofinancial Resilience to Climate and Environmental Change (‘the RAMP University Network’) was launched in 2022 to promote multi-disciplinary academic teaching and research in areas important for strengthening macrofinancial resilience to climate change.

The RAMP University Network is a key part of the Resilience Adaptation Mainstreaming Program (RAMP).

The RAMP University Network consists of global universities that seek to build capacities to carry out relevant high-quality teaching and research, acting as a strategic and knowledge partner of major international organisations working in this field.

The RAMP University Network develops curricula and course materials and conducts teacher training that enable universities in climate-vulnerable countries to offer high-quality graduate-level teaching and professional training to officials at finance ministries and other relevant government departments. By building local expertise and capacity, the RAMP University Network enables current and future leaders to effectively address climate-related macro-financial risks and vulnerabilities that threaten public finances, financial and macroeconomic stability, and economic development, thereby integrating them into decision-making and planning. Through such capacity-building, the RAMP University Network contributes to systemic change in public financial management, public policy for climate finance, central banking and financial markets in climate-vulnerable countries.

The RAMP University Network also helps member universities to strengthen their research capabilities through research grants and by building a community of researchers. The Network also supports member universities in developing their administrative and academic capabilities to deliver high-quality, graduate-level, teaching and professional training.

The Resilience Adaptation Mainstreaming Program (RAMP)

The RAMP University Network is a key part of the Resilience Adaptation Mainstreaming Program (RAMP), which was conceived and established jointly by the World Resources Institute and the SOAS Centre for Sustainable Finance. The objective of RAMP is to accelerate climate adaptation in developing countries by building capacity in ministries of finance, planning and economics, to understand, plan for, and finance climate adaptation actions.

RAMP is supported by a secretariat hosted by the World Resources Institute. RAMP works in close partnership with the Coalition of Finance Ministers for Climate Action, the Bretton Woods institutions, UNDP, regional development banks, and other stakeholders.
