About this event

What is the role of literature in our world? Why do we read? Love it or hate it? Why do we study it? Can literature change the world?

This masterclass will consider the role literature plays, historically and in contemporary times, in resistance (resisting hierarchies of class, gender, and race, for example). Participants will work together to understand this concept and then look at some literature together to consider what it might be. Participants will develop critical thinking and analytical skills.

On Campus Masterclasses are subject based and are 3 hours long. They consist of a topic-based lecture and interactive activity, led by a SOAS academic. There is also a campus tour and a workshop on Higher Education led by Student Ambassadors.
