Enrico Pulieri awarded with Honorable Mention for the Director’s Learning and Teaching Prize

Enrico Pulieri, PhD Candidate and Teacher of the Macroeconomic Analysis module at the Department of Economics has been awarded with an Honorable Mention for the Director’s Learning and Teaching Prize.

The Director's Learning and Teaching Prize was established to acknowledge exceptional learning and teaching at SOAS, and efforts to foster a positive and productive learning atmosphere.

Enrico was praised for providing students with a wide variety of learning materials in economics. Enrico used his own research work to support his delivery (Research Informed Teaching), using his findings over the past few years in his teaching. In this he made the learning current, relevant and contextualised. Enrico was praised for his energetic delivery, which students found engaging and welcome when the learning was challenging. He was praised for his ability to explain key threshold concepts and his ability to monitor the class understandings, adapting his methods until they were fully grasped.

One student claimed that "Enrico is truly one of the best seminar teachers I have experienced at SOAS!".

Enrico said: “It’s a privilege to have received this prestigious award. I would like to thank my students, Prof. Jan Toporowski and Dr. Yannis Dafermos, who inspired me to be a good teacher and researcher. I learned from them that as academics we have a crucial mission: to open the minds of the next generation”.
