The SOAS China Institute welcomes new Visiting Scholars and Professorial Research Associate

The SOAS China Institute has appointed a new Professorial Research Associate and two new Visiting Scholars.

Professor Terry Sicular joins the SOAS China Institute as a Professorial Research Associate. She is a Professor of Economics at Western University (Canada) and is a specialist on the Chinese economy. Professor Sicular will be conducting empirical research on household incomes and income distribution in the People’s Republic of China during the post-Mao era.

Dr Yanwei Lin joins the SOAS China Institute as a Visiting Scholar until November 2023 from Guangdong Medical University where she is an Associate Professor at the School of Humanities and Management. During her time here, she will be researching the social support system of the elderly in the post-epidemic era based on the social vulnerability index system.

Dr Hongxiang Li is an Associate Professor of Ideological and Political Education at Guizhou University and has been appointed a Visiting Scholar until December 2023 at the SOAS China Institute. Her research will focus on ‘Modernity, mobility and identity: a qualitative study on intimacy and intergenerational care of ethnic minority families in western China.’
