Undergraduate Offer Holders

Overview

Now that you are holding an offer to study with us, here is some important information to note ahead of your course.

You do not need to make a payment to accept your offer. However, the majority of students who require a student visa to study at SOAS will need to make a payment to request a CAS. Please see our CAS Request page for the full details.

Offer Letters

SOAS does not send out hard copy offer letters.

If your application is successful, you will be able to view your offer and any conditions you must meet through your UCAS Hub.

Once you have completed all enrolment formalities in September, you will be able to apply for an Enrolment letter through the Student Information Desk.

If you need proof of your offer prior to enrolment, you can request a Confirmation Letter from Admissions if you hold an Unconditional Firm offer.

Conditional Offers

Deadline

The deadline for meeting any conditions of your offer is 31 August.
If you require a visa to study in the UK, you must ensure the conditions of your offer are met as early as possible to allow you to apply for the visa and arrive in the UK in time for enrolment.

English translations of documentation

If your degree certificate and/or transcripts are not in English, you are required to provide the Admissions Office with a colour scanned copy of the original documents together with a scanned copy of the same document translated into English by a recognised translator. Documents certified by the awarding university may be sufficient.

Pre-Sessional English courses

If you are required to provide evidence of your English language proficiency, it is recommended you do so well in advance of the deadline for meeting the conditions of your offer. This is to allow for any additional English conditions that may be required, such as a pre-sessional English course.

If you are required to attend an English pre-sessional course, please check our pre-sessional English courses to find out more about the dates and fees of the pre-sessional. If you have any further queries, please email: presessional@soas.ac.uk

Unconditional Offer Holders

An Unconditional offer can only be issued once an applicant has met SOAS’ academic entry and English language requirements and the evidence to support this has been provided.

Unconditional offer holders, who have firmly accepted their offer, requiring confirmation of their offer can request a Confirmation Letter from the Undergraduate Admissions team.

Enrolment Information

Enrolment information will be sent out to Unconditional offer holders by the Student Records team closer to enrolment, this is usually in early September. Enrolment information is only sent out to unconditional offer holders who firmly accepted their offer through UCAS.

When you are sent your enrolment information you will be provided with your six-digit number which will remain your student reference number throughout your enrolment at SOAS. You will need your six-digit number when doing things like paying your tuition fees, enrolling during welcome week, using the library and making general enquiries as an enrolled student.

Requesting a CAS

If you require a visa to study in the UK, you must hold an Unconditional Firm offer prior to being able to request a CAS number.

The majority of students who require a student visa to study at SOAS will need to make a payment to request a CAS. Please see our CAS Request page or the full details.

Fee Status

Fee status is governed by the Education (Fees and Awards) Regulations. Your fee status is considered against the year of entry for the programme you have applied for and not against the date you submitted your application for consideration. You can find more information on the UKCISA website.

Fee Status Questionnaire

If you believe your fee status has been incorrectly assessed, you will need to complete and submit the online UG Fee Status Questionnaire, ensuring you have also uploaded all supporting documentation.

Your fee status questionnaire and supporting evidence must be submitted by 31 August otherwise your fee status will default to Overseas when your student record is created.

Deferral Requests

For information on how to request a deferral of your offer, please refer to our Deferred Entry vs. Deferral Request page.
