About this event

The world is full of uncertainties, such as natural disasters, pandemics, and wars.

The stock market reaction to a shock can reveal the severity of its economic impact. How do we quantify such an economic impact? In this lecture, we introduce you to the event study method, often used in finance. We use a corporate example to illustrate how we can measure the change in a firm's stock market value in response to an important corporate event. The rationale behind the example can be applied to analyse other corporate events or macroeconomic shocks.

On Campus Masterclasses are subject based and are 3-hours long. They consist of a topic based lecture and interactive activity, led by a SOAS academic. You will also be actively encouraged to share your own views with your peers.

There is also a campus tour and a workshop on Higher Education led by Student Ambassadors.
