Biography
Charles Masili Banda is a PhD candidate at SOAS University of London.
His doctoral research is focusing on the socioeconomic investigation of the Nutrition Transition in Zambia and its implications on Policy.
Prior to starting his PhD studies in the UK, Charles worked for the National Food and Nutrition Commission in the Research and Planning Unit where he was responsible for research and the implementation of the Medium Term Expenditure Framework for the Commission for close to two years from 2012 to 2014.
Thereafter, Charles joined the University of Zambia as a Lecturer in the Department of Economics where he lectures Economics from 2014 to 2021. During this period, Charles accumulated over eight years of lecturing Economics courses and undertaking research and consultancy services sponsored by various local and multilateral organisations such as the World Bank, European Union, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, John Snow Inc, IDRC and UK-DFID among others.
The consultancies and research undertaken span around areas in Health Economics research, public health, health systems strengthening, Youth Entrepreneurship, Migration and Employment among others. From 2021 to date, Charles is a PhD Candidate as SOAS University of London and a Special Research Fellow at the University of Zambia in the Department of Economics.
