About this event
In this lecture, Richard Bennett, the UN Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights Afghanistan, will speak about key elements of the current human rights crisis in Afghanistan under the Taliban Mark II.
Starting from the repression of women and girls, most recently analysed in his new report on the Vice and Virtue law, which also impacts the human rights all Afghans, he will also address the role of accountability and the responsibilities of various stakeholders, including governments, to centre human rights in their policies and actions. Not only as a matter of principle but also because it is necessary for the stability of the country and the welfare of the Afghan people.
