The SOAS School of Law, Gender and Media, the Centre for Islamic and Middle Eastern Law (CIMEL) and the Centre of African Studies (CAS) are pleased to host the lecture by Dr. Muneer Abduroaf.
About the speaker
Dr. Muneer Abduroaf is an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Law at the University of the Western Cape, South Africa. He is both an admitted attorney and a sworn translator of the High Court of South Africa. He is also a marriage officer for the Department of Home Affairs, South Africa. Dr Muneer is a CRL Rights Commissioner appointed by the President of South Africa to promote and protect cultural, religious and linguistic rights.
The CRL Rights Commission is a Chapter 9 Institution in the South African Constitution. He holds an LLD Law Degree, an LLM Law Degree, an LLB Degree, and a Diploma in Arabic Linguistics. He is the Associate Editor for the Journal of Transnational Islamic Law & Practice He has also published widely in his area of expertise.
