About this event
Installation by artist and ceramicist Yozo Hirayama
Two years ago, my ceramic installation
'
One Thousand Pots, One Thousand Thoughts
'
commemorated the Tohoku tsunami and nuclear disaster
in this garden.
Time has passed
my Requiem is sung.
With great courage, despite lifelong scars, the Japanese people are recovering.
It is also 70 years since the nuclear bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
This time, peace and humanity are symbolized in a circle.
I think of Ebola,
Africa needs help!
I salute the brave doctors, nurses and all the other selfless people,
who are trying to overcome this disaster.
Twelve is a strong number in our lives.
It creates a circle easily and divides equally
and plays a great part in our division of time and season.
The Circle of Twelve,
I hope, will provide a quiet moment for thoughts .
All of my pots are formed in my palm individually.
My work is not just making objects but creating a space
which can hold my thoughts.
