About this event
Uttarakhand, a Himalayan state in India, has been in news in the recent past due to repeated disasters.
The seminar will be about how the impacts of construction activities, particularly related to the hydropower projects, and the climate crises aggravate each other and have led to generation, spiralling and intensification of calamities in Uttarakhand.
About the speaker
Shruti Jain is currently the Charles Wallace Fellow at SOAS South Asia Institute (2023/24). She is an independent researcher, who has worked with the Institute of Economic Growth, Economic & Political Weekly and Tata Institute of Social Sciences in India.
