About this event
The 2025 SOAS Artist-in-Residence Fellowship of the Shapoorji Pallonji Institute of Zoroastrian Studies presents a new major solo exhibition of Karl Singporewala’s sculptural interpretations of Zoroastrian symbolism.
The exhibition features large-scale installations and new and past artworks from his catalogue which explore his heritage through art and architectural form. It will also showcase historic objects on loan from cultural institutions and private collectors.
About the exhibition
The inaugural Artist-in-Residence Fellowship Shapoorji Pallonji Institute of Zoroastrian Studies presents an exhibition by Karl Singporewala, a British-born Parsi architect and artist celebrated for his innovative approach to architectural and sculptural practices.
This exhibition delves into the rich visual language of Zoroastrian symbolism, motifs and iconography, offering fresh interpretations on heritage, memory and material culture through monumental installations and new research-based artworks developed during Singporewala’s fellowship at SOAS.

About the artist
Karl Singporewala is a Royal Academician at the Royal West of England Academy of Art. His artistic practice bridges architectural and sculptural disciplines. Singporewala’s practice is shaped by his Zoroastrian Parsi heritage, and his works often explore themes of identity, materiality, and enduring tensions between tradition and modernity.
Utilising modern techniques such as computer-aided design, laser cutting, photo etching, and 3D printing, his work offers a unique opportunity to experience Zoroastrian heritage through an artistic lens. His art has been exhibited internationally, including at the Saatchi Gallery, Royal Academy of Arts, New York Institute of Technology and the Onassis Cultural Centre Athens.
