Dr Miemie Winn Byrd, a retired U.S. Army veteran with 28 years of service, is a distinguished scholar and practitioner specializing in U.S.-Myanmar relations, Southeast Asian security dynamics, and the intersection of economics and security. With an extensive background encompassing military, private-sector, and nonprofit sectors, Dr Byrd's expertise extends to civil-military operations, women's roles in peace and security, and transformational learning.
She holds a Doctorate in Education Leadership from the University of Southern California and has authored numerous publications, including articles in professional security related journals like Indo-Pacific Defense Forum and The Military Review Journal. Currently, she serves on multiple advisory boards and committees, contributing her insights to various international initiatives.
