In the UK, early decarbonisation of the power sector has led to significant progress on achieving greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reduction targets and delivering net zero, but the need to tackle the harder to abate sectors could slow progress in the years to come.

Transition finance will play a key role but workers in these sectors also need to be brought along to ensure the shift to a low-emission economy is fair and inclusive. At the same time, there is a growing need to invest in building resilience to the physical impacts of climate change which are already placing pressures on infrastructure across the transport, water and energy sectors.

This event will discuss the challenges and opportunities the UK is facing in financing the transition to a just and low-carbon future.
