Professor Sidney Mintz (Johns Hopkins University)
Sidney W. Mintz is a Research Professor in Anthropology at Johns Hopkins University. A pioneering scholar in Afro-Caribbean studies and in the Anthropology of Food, Professor Mintz is the author of Sweetness and Power: The Place of Sugar in Modern History , Worker in the Cane: A Puerto Rican Life History , Caribbean Transformations , and Tasting Food, Tasting Freedom: Excursions into Eating, Culture, and the Past .
The lecture will launch two new SOAS research centres: The SOAS Food Studies Centre & The SOAS Centre for Migration and Diaspora Studies
