About this event

Hudood: Rethinking Boundaries introduces contemporary art from the Barjeel Art Foundation, with a focus on the overarching theme of ‘boundaries’ as both a subject and a tool for meaningfully accessing a diverse array of art from the Southwest Asia and North Africa (SWANA) region.

The symposium, which will accompany the exhibition, offers a platform for artists, curators, and researchers to discuss how they encounter boundaries in their own practice, and the implication of those encounters on knowledge production about contemporary Arab art.

The curatorial team and exhibition designer will also gather for an inaugural discussion on the making of the exhibition from first encountering the works in the collection, to crafting a dynamic exhibition traversing themes from physical boundaries, such as architecture, to conceptual boundaries, such as nostalgia and memory.
