About this event
This meditation session will begin with 3–5-minute intensive breathing exercises, following guide and audio instructions. This practice helps practitioners focus quickly. It will be followed by a natural breathing exercise and an appreciative (Muditā) meditation practice to cultivate a positive and mindful state.

Meet the coach
Ven. Nyanasami Laṅkāra received his early education in Pāli and Buddhist studies through Myanmar’s traditional monastic education system. He earned his Private Monastic prestigious Alankāra Degree and Dhammācariya qualification, a monastic teaching degree recognized by the Government of the Union of Myanmar. He further pursued academic studies in Pāli and Buddhist Studies at the University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka, where he earned a Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) and a Master of Arts (MA).
Ven. Nyanasami Laṅkāra has extensive experience in traditional meditation practices in Myanmar, particularly in Mahāsi Vipassanā Meditation and Theingu 32, Dhamma Aung Lan Meditation, which is known for its emphasis on intensive strong breathing exercises and long sitting practice—a tradition that has gained prominence in Myanmar in recent decades.
He also practices Appreciative (Muditā), Compassionate (Karuṇā) Meditation and Relaxation Meditation under the guidance of Ven. Prof. Dr. Khammai Dhammasami, DPhil (Oxford), the Abbot of the Oxford Buddha Vihara (OBV) Trust, Oxford, UK, and the Founder and Rector of Shan State Buddhist University, Myanmar.
Ven. Nyanasami Laṅkāra is currently serving as an assistant to the Abbot of the Oxford Buddha Vihara (OBV) Trust, where he regularly participates in and provides guidance for meditation retreats, shares his Buddhist knowledge and experience with the community. Additionally, he is also pursuing an MA in Buddhist Studies at SOAS University, London.
