A discussion with Professor Mohsen Milani on his new book: Iran’s Rise and Rivalry with the United States in the Middle East.

This moderated discussion examines the origins of the cold war between Iran and the United States following the 1979 revolution. It scrutinises Iran’s ability to expand its influence in the Middle East despite the U.S. containment strategy and the sanctions imposed on the country.

The discussion also addresses the sustainability of Iran's rise and evaluates its current regional position, as well as the prospects for a renewed nuclear deal.
