Join us for a talk by Lord Peter Hain on global complicity in South Africa’s tragic corruption story.
Anti-apartheid protester to Right Honourable Lord, from Pretoria childhood to senior UK Cabinet Minister, then leading the fight against global corporate complicity in the ‘Zupta’ state capture scandal, Peter Hain’s life has been one of constant campaigning and activism. The child of South African parents jailed, banned and forced into exile during the freedom struggle, from 1969-70 he led anti-apartheid campaigns to stop all-white South African sports tours. MP for Neath from 1991-2015 and a Privy Councillor, he served in the UK Government for 12 years, 7 of these in the Cabinet. His concise readable biography Mandela: His Essential Life was published in 2018 and his two thrillers The Rhino Conspiracy in 2020 and its sequel The Elephant Conspiracy in 2022. His South African memoir, A Pretoria Boy was published in 2022.
