About this event

This is a student dialogue event with Mark O'Neill. From 1978 to 2006, he worked as a journalist in Hong Kong, India, China, Taiwan and Japan, for Reuters and the South China Morning Post. 

Mark O'Neill

Mark was born in London, England and educated at Marlborough College and New College, Oxford. He worked as a researcher and journalist in Washington DC, Manchester and Belfast, Northern Ireland. In 1978, he moved to Hong Kong and has lived in Asia ever since. From 1978 to 2006, he worked as a journalist in Hong Kong, India, China, Taiwan and Japan, for Reuters and the South China Morning Post. 

Since 2006, he has been writing books, 16 so far, of which eight have Chinese editions, on Chinese history and societies and biographies. Here is the website of the books. Four are about Taiwan, including the latest "The Island", available on Amazon. He lives in Hong Kong with his Hong Kong wife. He speaks French, Mandarin, Cantonese and Japanese.
