About this event
Devina Aggrey
This is a 25-minute documentary entitled, 'No Choice' and centres on Clinton a Ghanaian stowaway.
With Clinton's identity protected, the interview is conducted in English whilst he narrates his experience in his mother tongue, Fante. Clinton now resides in Paris, and recounts his early life growing up in Ivory Coast, experiences migrating and living around West Africa, and eventual embarkation to Europe as a stowaway.
Clinton's story of 'why' and 'how' he arrived in France is extraordinary, and this film aims to shift the language that surrounds the African migration narrative, which is often too coarse and unempathetic.
The screening will be followed by a panel Q&A discussion with the director, and other speakers (TBC).
