The Planetary King: Humayun Padshah, Inventor and Visionary on the Mughal Throne

This talk explores first the historical debates around the presence of women in mosques, and the extent, if any, to which these have been reflected in mosque design.

In the summer of 1912, a remarkable exhibition was staged at the Musée des Arts Decoratifs in Paris. Miniatures Persanes, organized in eight days only, borrowed from private European collectors an assemblage of 500 of the finest examples of the arts of the ‘Oriental’ book including manuscripts, bindings and illustration.

The lecture discusses the site of Banbhore, southern Sindh, Pakistan, in the light of recent archaeological discoveries and written historical sources.
