In this masterclass, SOAS academic staff from politics, economics and philosophies will provide students with a stimulating and accessible introduction to the topic of racial capitalism.

The aim of the session is to provide students with a rich vocabulary for making sense of capitalism as an ideology whose logic involved the (re)production of racism in not only the division of labour itself but across all economic and social domains. Students, in this way, will gain both a concrete sense of how Politics, Economics, and Philosophies at SOAS gel, and broader insights into SOAS' unique and refreshing critical intellectual ethos, one which is committed to social and economic justice.

Masterclasses take place on campus, are subject-based, and the programme lasts for 3 hours. This consists of a topic-based lecture and interactive academy, led by a SOAS academic, together with a campus tour and a workshop on higher education led by Student Ambassadors.
