The United Nations International Mother Language Day underscores the role of languages in promoting inclusion and achieving Sustainable Development Goals.

Linguistic diversity and multilingualism promote inclusive societies and aid in preserving non-dominant, minority, and indigenous languages. It is a cornerstone for achieving equitable access to public discourses, education and lifelong learning opportunities for all individuals.

At SOAS we celebrate International Mother Language Day with a selection of presentations and talks, focusing on languages of Africa and Asia, as well as on London’s multilingual communities.
