About this event

We’ve partnered with the South London jazz collective Steam Down for a unique evening of collective spontaneous improvisation featuring musicians from the vibrant London jazz scene and the SOAS music department playing our collection of instruments from Africa, Asia and The Middle East.

Ticket includes food provided by Hackney’s MadeUpKitchen collective.

The evening event kicks off with a panel discussion on the importance of the jam session and improvisation in jazz, with saxophonist and Steam Down founder Wayne Francis, jazz historian and bandleader Professor Catherine Tackley and jazz journalist Kevin Le Gendre, hosted by Caspar Melville.

Buy your ticket via Eventbrite.
