About this event
Vincent Hiribarren, KCL London
This paper will analyse the last years of the United Nations Trusteeship of British Cameroons (1950s-1961) through the lens of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office Migrated Archives as the Cameroons files released in July 2012 are a mine of precious information on the struggle between the French colonial authorities and the Union of the People of the Cameroons (UPC). They shed new light on how European powers collaborated between each other during the decolonisation years and contributed to the construction of the map of independent Africa.
