Biography

Fariborz Kiannejad has a background in engineering and science. Having worked in this field for several years, he finally succumbed to his childhood passion, which was Persian classical music.

Subsequently, in collaboration with a number of the most distinguished Iranian artists, he founded Nava Arts UK to help introduce and promote classical and regional Iranian music of the highest standards throughout the UK. Over the past four decades, as well as accompanying some of the finest Iranian musicians throughout the world, Fariborz has promoted some of the most significant events in classical and regional Iranian music in the UK. Echoes of Silence, Echoes of Eternity, and Ancient Roots New Leaves are but a few of the concert series promoted by Fariborz through Nava Arts UK.

In 2024, Fariborz was invited to join the Music Department at SOAS as a Global Fellow to collaborate with the Magham Beyond Nation project as well as with the SOAS Concert Series, organising a series of events featuring some of the finest musicians from across the Maqam world and widening the spectrum and reach of the already amazing SOAS Concert Series.
