Feryal Awan is a Lecturer in Media and Postcolonial Studies at the Institute of Education, UCL.

Her work examines the political, cultural and socioeconomic impact of colonialism on children in Palestine and the UK. Her PhD, funded by the AHRC, is an ethnographic study looking at the discourses and politics of childhood and their place in screen content available to Palestinian children.

She is currently writing her first book entitled Colonised childhoods: Childhood and Children's Media in Palestine due to be published by UCL Press in June 2026.
