Research interests
Her research interests explore the impact of medieval West African ivory production (the Luso-African ivories described in prior works as Afro-Portuguese ivories), with ornamentation carved by African carvers commissioned and collected by early modern Europeans and the impact on the decorative carving styles found in the Tudor Elizabethan period. Joy Onyejiako has an extensive background in the arts sector, organising exhibition events, museum and gallery workshops, and arts administration with curatorial, collections and community archival practices.
