Anthropology and International Relations hit the top 5

The study of Anthropology and International Relations at SOAS University of London are now among the country's top five after appearing in the latest national league tables.

The impressive climb up the prestigious university rankings appears in both the UK's 2023 Times/Sunday Times and 2023 Guardian League Tables. 

This year's successes include Anthropology which has climbed 11 places to reach 4th in the UK in the 2023 Times/Sunday Times league table. Whilst, International Relations, which includes the study of Development Studies & International Relations, comes in at 5th in the UK in the 2023 Guardian League Table.

Professor Adam Habib, SOAS Director, said: 

"It is incredible to see SOAS subjects climbing the league tables and this is testament to the hard work of staff and students. I am proud that SOAS has been recognised once again as we continue to tackle some of the most important global challenges of our time. The social sciences and humanities have never been more relevant to students wanting to understand our complex world and address the global issues of today."

Other impressive climbs up the rankings include Middle Eastern & African studies which climbed the 2023 Guardian League table by 6 places to 4th and ranked 1st for both Teaching Quality Graduate Prospects.  East and South Asian studies climbed 5 places to rank 7th in the UK in the 2023 Times/Sunday Times League Table, whilst Politics also ranked in the top 20 UK universities in the 2023 Guardian League Table at 15th and top 25 in the 2023 Times/Sunday Times League Table.  

 Philosophy was ranked 27th, Law in the top 50 and Business and Management in the top 100 in the 2023 Guardian League Table.
