Rami Kang, Student Support Officer in the Online Distance Learning has recently published a self-love poetry book titled, ‘All of You Is Welcome Here’.

This book was born out of Rami’s own experiences of post -natal depression and one way to cope was through self-love and words of encouragement to help people to feel better. Poetry became the healing space Rami needed as a mother.

This collection of poems can help students to look after their mental health and provide support, comfort and understanding to them during difficult times.

Speaking about how she hopes the book is received and the poems themselves, Rami said:

“I want this book to feel like a home and welcoming of all of the emotions and ultimately I want to make a positive difference to people’s mental health through poetry.

The poems are there to provide support and guidance especially in times of isolation. As a graduate myself, I found my studying journey to be one of the most challenging times in my life. I felt alone and noticed when I was writing this book I touched on those feelings when I was at University.

What also inspired me to write this book was how I believe the power of positive self talk can really transform your life. If you nurture yourself within you will feel your best and your true confident self will shine through. When you are learning, meeting new people, living alone and trying to navigate this journey at University it is imperative to find ways to look after yourself and just to love yourself well.”

All of You Is Welcome Here is available at independent and commercial booksellers including Waterstones and Amazon .
