SOAS alum joins the BBC's Antiques Road Trip

There was a new face behind the steering wheel of the Antiques Road Trip this season, as SOAS alum Tahmina Ghaffar made her debut on the popular BBC series.
Ghaffar took on antiques veteran David Harper in the final five episodes of the show, which are available to stream on BBC iPlayer. The pair were challenged to pick up interesting objects and artefacts as they journeyed across the UK, travelling from Lancashire to Pembrokeshire via Newcastle, the Midlands and Hereford. They then competed to sell them for a profit at auction, with all proceeds going to BBC Children in Need.
Tahmina Ghaffar is an expert in Islamic and Indian art, currently working as Head of Department at Chiswick Auctions. She graduated from SOAS in 2012 with a BA in History of Art, specialising in Islamic art and architecture. She previously worked at Sotheby’s and Bonhams auction houses, achieving world record results for Indian, Pakistani and Sri Lankan artists, according to Chiswick Auctions.
Although Tahmina's episodes mark the end of this season, fans can look forward to more antiques adventures later this year, as the BBC has confirmed that filming has already begun for Season 31.
