Yoga Studies launches new online learning platform
YogaStudies Online (YSO) constitutes the third initiative of the SOAS Department of History, Religions and Philosophies in the field of Yoga Studies.
This platform aims to engage life-long learners and yoga professionals seeking further education.
YSO is available to access now.
The minimum entry point for students of YSO will be a 12-hour 'PodCourse', which typically consists of three modules, and is accessible anytime, from anywhere.
Each PodCourse is a topic-based course that addresses a critical issue in Yoga Studies. The material will be delivered in English by researchers, academics, and world-leading experts in their field.
YSO will launch with four PodCourses:
- Female Asceticism and Yoga
- The Margins of Modern Yoga
- Yoga & Gender: Concepts
- Spiritual Abuse in Modern Yoga
A PodCourse is designed to be an adult educational resource with no prerequisites. Each PodCourse will be an asynchronous learning experience with a pathway forward towards further education.
Successful completion of all 'virtual' assessments for a PodCourse will result in a 'Certificate of Completion' for each registered student. This certificate is non-credit bearing. However, the tangible learning outcomes may qualify for continuing education hours by Yoga teacher professionals.
Our aim through YSO is to offer an inclusive and unique place for people to bring their passion for Yoga and study together. We hope to offer a wide range of topic-based courses, flexible study programmes, and professional development opportunities that allow students to experience the wealth of knowledge on offer at SOAS in new and accessible ways.
