Biography
Rabia Zaid is a scholar-practitioner who has an interest in the study of Neoliberalism in the Global South, specifically using feminist theoretical frameworks to critically examine development projects and processes.
Before enrolling at SOAS, Rabia pursued a master's degree in humanities at the University of Chicago. Her profound interest, deep affection, and incessant curiosity for South Asia and its people have served as the impetus for her pursuit of development studies.
She aims to contribute to the creation of scholarship and curricula that foster the exploration of indigenous solutions to regional challenges. Rabia operates an institute that provides skill-based training for women in a geographically isolated town in Pakistan while also designing curricula tailored for underprivileged schools.
Additionally, she held a teaching position at the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) for seven years in Pakistan. In addition to her scholarly endeavors, she dedicates her time to engaging in activities such as reading, practicing meditation, exploring various coffee houses, seeking out study nooks, and walking trails. In the future, Rabia aspires to engage in teaching and working on projects pertaining to gender and development programs, degrowth, neoliberalism in the global south, and feminist studies.
