Ross Mittiga is a Senior Lecturer (Associate Professor) of Political Theory in the Department of Politics and International Studies, SOAS University of London. His primary research examines the normative limits and justifications of climate emergency politics, including questions about how to navigate trade-offs between fairness and precautionary efficacy in the design of climate policy, the legitimacy of authoritarian climate governance, and the nature and role of climate disobedience. Ross’s work has appeared in a number of leading journals in political science and philosophy, including the American Political Science Review, Philosophical Studies, and the Review of Politics, and has received coverage in the Washington Post and Wall Stress Journal, among other outlets. In February 2024, Ross’s first single-authored book, Climate Change as Political Catastrophe: Before Collapse, was published with Oxford University Press.
