Biography
Victoria has an MSc and PhD in Agricultural Economics and is currently working with Dr Silvio Caputo on the ‘FEW-meter’ international project funded under the initiative JPI Urban Europe, investigating the Food – Energy – Water Nexus in cities, a research project that will end in 2021. She is collecting data in ten community gardens in London over two growing seasons to measure the water, energy and consumable inputs to urban farming, and the harvested outputs. In addition, Victoria is working on a cost benefit analysis to combine the physical input-output analysis with the social data from the gardens.
She has previously worked as a Research Fellow at City, University of London Centre for Food Policy, where her work focused on the implications of Brexit for food and farming in the UK. Victoria has also worked at a number of food policy institutions: she has been involved in evaluations of the Rural Development Programme for DEFRA in England and Wales; she has worked on a WTO project to look at the costs and benefits of upgrading SPS capacity to maintain or exploit markets; and she has written for the CAP Monitor. She has also worked as Eastern ARC Officer at the University of Kent and for the last ten years has tutored external SOAS/CeDEP students online in Research Methods and supervised a number of Master’s research dissertations.
