Yuen Lo is a Senior Fellow at the Centre for Sustainable Finance at SOAS, University of London.

He is also a Lecturer in Economics at London Metropolitan University. He completed his PhD on blockchain economics at UCL in 2023, with research interests across decentralised finance, fintech and sustainable finance. He has published articles on Bitcoin mining, ICO tokens and decentralised exchanges. He has worked on a UN Environment grant focused on climate vulnerability and its impact on cost of debt, and on an EU Horizon 2020 grant on circular business models for cultural heritage (CLIC). Recent work includes a report on scaling green investment in the global south, funded by the German government, that found that emerging markets and developing economies exported 15 trillion dollars of capital over twenty years. These funds could alternatively be used domestically for sustainable development, climate adaptation and mitigation.

He has worked extensively in industry, with ten years in investment management for a FTSE 100 pension fund, where he managed a $3 billion equity portfiolio, and two years at an enterprise blockchain company. He is currently advisor to a venture studio working on a selection of fintech projects in Europe and West Asia, providing expertise on tokenomics, commercial operating models and financial modeling.
