Clearing Hotline

Here's a quick step by step guide to how you can apply through the Clearing Hotline at SOAS:

  1. Call the Clearing Hotline. Have your UCAS Personal ID, Clearing ID and grades close to hand.
  2. The Hotline operator will ask about your qualfiications, grandes, and preferred programme.
  3. If we are able to consider your application, they will submit an application on your behalf.
  4. Admissions will review your application and send one of the following emails:
    1. Making you an offer on your chosen programme
    2. Making you an offer on an alternative programme
    3. Advising your application has been unsuccessful
    4. Requesting further information (if we do not have enough information to complete our assessment or cannot see your qualifications in UCAS because you are holding an offer elsewhere)
  5. To accept your offer, you should log into your UCAS application and click on 'Add a Clearing Choice'. Enter the SOAS institution code S09, the programme code for the programme you have been offered a place on (these are shown in your provisional offer email)
    1. We strongly advise you to have registered for a UCAS account in advance if you have not already done so as this will ensure that you are able to respond to our offer by the deadline specified in your offer email.
    2. If you are holding an place at another university, you will need to be released before you can refer yourself to SOAS in UCAS. You can self release in UCAS if you are holding an unconditional offer with another university.
  6. After you add your Clearing Choice on your UCAS application, it will then be referred to us. We will then accept you subject to verifying the information that has been provided on your Clearing application form. We aim to do this within 48 hours of your referring yourself to SOAS. Once we have confirmed your place this will then update on UCAS.

Validating your offer

If your Clearing application is successful, you must refer yourself to SOAS through your UCAS Hub by the deadline specified in your offer email.

If you fail to refer yourself to SOAS through UCAS within your validity period, we cannot guarantee it will be possible to proceed with your application. Only offers confirmed via UCAS will be considered formal and enrolment information will only be provided to these offer holders.
